Ancient India and World:
1. There is a Buddhist temple, known as Angkor Vat in Cambodia. In Java, there is also a Buddhist temple, known as Borobodur.
2. Angkor Vat in Cambodia is considered the greatest religious monument in the world and the Mahabharata and the Ramayana are depicted in the relief panels of this temple.
3. A gigantic rock-cut statue of the Buddha at Bamiyan in Afghanistan was built. It has been” demolished by fundamentalists Talibans.
4. The trade route between China and Western Asia ran through Central Asia. This is called the ‘Old Silk Route’ because Chinese silk was one of the main articles of trade.
5. Islam, in India was first brought to India by Arabs. Islam was founded by Muhammad, the prophet in Makka. In the year A.D. 622 Muhammad left Makka and went to Madina. This event is known as Muslim Calender Hijri. After the death of Muhammad, the successor of Muhammad, who was considered the head of the Muslim Community was known as Caliph. Abu Bakr was the first successor of the Prophet Muhammad.
