In a move to prioritise the elementary and primary school
education, the Delhi Government has taken further steps which include reserving
85% of Guest teacher’s faculties from the National Capital Territory of Delhi.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sishodia, who also holds the post of state
education minister, directed the Chief Secretary M.M. Kutty to ensure that 85%
of the total guest faculty teaching seats are reserved for the candidates
hailing from the State. It is presumed that the same would be implemented for
the permanent teaching jobs also in the coming future.
However there are three conditions out of which the
candidates will have to follow any one of them. The directive to the Chief
Secretary read that “candidates should have completed their Class 12 study from
a school in the NCT of Delhi, or have completed their Undergraduate degree of
diploma degree from a college affiliated under University of Delhi or any other
varsity in Delhi, or, have received their Teacher’s education degree (B. Ed) or
diploma in Teaching from a college of University of Delhi.”
The state education department in an earlier notice had
sought to form a panel of guest teachers in all the departments to teach the
study in a case of vacancy in any Government school in Delhi. This directive
comes in the wake of similar prerequisite set by the Delhi Government of 85%
quota for the Delhi Students in the Delhi University colleges those of which
are partially or fully funded by the State Government.
“In addition to its responsibility to provide high-quality
education to the children of Delhi, it is the responsibility of the government
to provide employment to the educated and qualified youth of the city and
therefore, the youth of the city must be given priority,” the directive further
read.
The sources at the Delhi Subordinate Staff Selection
Commission (DSSSB) that the Government is in a process to hire 8500 guest
teachers for the upcoming academic session. It is further expected that the
Government is also planning to release 25000 plus vacancies to hire Permanent
teachers in the Primary (PRT), Secondary (TGT) and Higher secondary levels
(PGT).
