CTET Exam Pattern - Overview
The CTET exam is held at the national level. CBSE has shared the details of the exam pattern in the official notification. The exam comprises of two papers: Paper I and Paper II. Both of them are conducted on a single day but in different slots. Candidates are advised to refer to the CTET Syllabus for effective preparation.
- CTET Paper I is for the candidates willing to teach class I-V
- Paper II of CTET exam is for those who want to teach Class VI-VIII
- Candidates who want to teach from Class I - VIII can appear for both the papers.
- Paper I comprises of five sections while Paper II consists of four sections.
- Candidates can choose Maths, Science and Social studies for Paper II.
- Candidates scoring 60 percent marks or more in CTET 2020 exam will be issued an eligibility certificate by CBSE.

Note: Candidates need to indicate their choice of paper for CTET 2020 while applying online. They will be able to appear for the exam they choose while filling in the CTET Application Form. Candidates cannot rethink on the choice of papers made once the form is filled.

CTET Exam Pattern 2020 - Marking Scheme
The CTET 2020 will two papers of 150 questions each. Every question carries equal marks. Total marks for each paper will be 150. Details regarding the marking scheme for every subject and also the section as per the paper pattern in the CTET exam is condensed in the table below:

CTET 2020 Exam Day Important Guidelines
CBSE issued a list of guidelines which is to be followed by every single aspirant appearing for CTET 2020. Candidates are advised to go through these guidelines before they appear for the exam. Detailed guidelines for CTET 2020 are listed below:
- The exam will begin sharp at the time as mentioned on the CTET Admit Card.
- As both the papers are held on one single day in multiple shifts, candidates need to ensure they reach the exam centre well in advance of the stipulated exam time.
- Candidates will be asked to open the seal of the test booklet exactly five minutes before the examination commencement.
- Candidates need to ensure that the code printed on the test booklet code is the same as mentioned on Side II of the Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) Sheet.
- In case of any discrepancy in the codes, candidates need to inform the invigilator seeking replacement.
- Invigilator present will verify the CTET admit card of the candidates.
- No one is allowed to appear for the exam without a valid admit card.
- Candidates should note that they can only use black or blue ballpoint pen to mark their answers in the OMR Sheet.
- Use of pencil for marking the OMR sheet is strictly prohibited.
- All such OMR sheets with pencil markings are rejected.
- Candidates can start marking the answers on OMR sheets only after being instructed by the invigilator present to do so.
CTET Exam Pattern 2020: How to use the OMR Sheet?
Applicants need to know a certain set of instructions and follow the same while using the OMR sheet for registering their answers for the respective questions. CLEAR EXAM has compiled a list of key points related related to the OMR Sheet that the candidates need to keep in their mind while appearing for the CTET 2020.
- The OMR sheet will be delivered to the examinees in a sealed test booklet. Seal of the test booklet can be opened only after the permission of the invigilator to do so.
- The OMR Sheet will have code printed on it. The codes are A, B, C and D. The codes are the same as printed on the test booklet.
- Candidates need to ensure the codes on both are the same. Invigilator needs to be notified for replacement in case of discrepancies, if any.
- Candidates appearing for CTET 2020 are graded in accordance to the answers marked on the OMR sheet which is scanned by an optical scanner.
- Candidates must ensure that the sheet is not folded.
- Candidates are advised not to write anything on the OMR sheet unless specified.
- OMR sheet is divided in two parts: Part I that requires to be filled clearly and accurately.
- Candidate’s Roll Number
- Candidate’s name
- Candidate’s Father’s Name
- Candidate’s Centre Number
- Name of the examination centre
- Subject offered for Paper-II (Only in case of Paper-II)
Side I of OMR Sheet contains the following columns:
- Roll Number
- Main Test Booklet Number
- Language Supplement Booklet Number
- Language Supplement Booklet Code
- Subject offered for Paper-II (Only in case of Paper-II)
- Language in which you have attempted the questions
- Signature of the candidate
The above details to be filled only with blue/black ball point pen on the OMR Sheet. Use of pencil or pen of any other colour will lead to disqualification of the candidate from the exam.
